Branding
Undoubtedly, brand building is not unlike any multi-disciplined endeavor of craftsmanship and must be undertaken strategically. In 2003, I was appointed Brand Director of PAMP S.A., based in Switzerland and a foremost refiner and fabricator of precious metals. A cohesive branding approach had never been developed since PAMP’s founding as a mint in 1977, producing ingots (bullion) bearing decorative designs on the reverse sides of its bars, the first bullion brand to do so. PAMP also standardized assayer-certified packaging to secure its minted bars, today a significant brand asset of any accredited bullion producer. However, in 1984 PAMP commenced full scale refining operations, and its name, an abbreviation of Produits Artistiques Métaux Précieux, no longer worked within the context of high volume, precious metals processing. Accordingly, I revised the monogram logo to fully communicate the brand name, further supported by the slogan: The Art of Precious Metal Transformation™. As the credits that follow indicate, these snapshots of PAMP’s branding evolution are presented in before-and-after or chronological fashion, culminating in highlights from the 2020 corporate brochure.
